Paediatric Vision Tests
Paediatric vision tests are:- visual acuity tests for near and distance
- grating acuity tests
- contrast sensitivity tests
- visual field tests
- colour vision tests
- visual adaptation tests
- tests for oculomotor functions and accommodation
- tests for visual perception.
Each LEA Test comes with a detailed instruction. In this section there are short descriptions of the main characteristics of the tests. The complete instructions can be found in the Instructions Section.
The LEA SYMBOLS® were designed in 1976 (Hyvärinen et al. 1980) because of the lack of child friendly vision tests. Over the years they have been modified several times. The history of these optotypes is therefor longer than you might think.
